Spoiler Alert for the Nintendo Switch

So, ever read a description of a game and it just sounds so darn intriguing that you feel the need to try it, well that happened with me and Spoiler Alert from Mega Fuzz.  Here is the synopsis from Nintendo’s site :

Spoiler Alert is a video game that tests your platforming skills… in reverse. It’s a comedy platformer that you play backwards.

When you pick this game up, it has already been beaten. The big bad boss is defeated, the coins are collected and the princess has been rescued. Why, oh why?

Unraveling this mystery takes you through the entire game, from the last level to the first. You must uncollect the coins, revive the enemies and avoid nasty time paradoxes. In other words, you must uncomplete the game by playing it backwards.

Everything in this game is so familiar, yet so different and new. You have played it a thousand times before, and at the same time, you have never tried anything like it.

that grab your attention?  It did mine for sure.  The price was right at $6.99 so I took a chance, and I am so glad I did.  To start with the game isn’t to difficult, I sat and played for 15 mins and completed World 3 (and then moved on to world 2), not achieving gold status in all the levels but blasting through them pretty quickly.  Here is an example of a couple levels, thou not all this quick or simple it shows how fast they can be.

This is a good time to talk about the game play.  You don’t move the character he is in a constant auto run, you just hit the B button when he needs to jump and the ZR when he needs to catch a fireball he previously shot.  So as you saw in the video if you kill a bad guy or collect a coin that you didn’t collect on your way through the first time you cause a Time Paradox (you die).  As i mentioned I breezed through most of levels (leet gamer skills I tell you!!!!) but there were a few that really tested my platforming skills, just due to the fact that your moving right to left most of the game and timing your jumps can be hard until you can retrain your mind for this a little bit.

In conclusion I am glad I took a chance on this cool game and even if it turns out to be a short experience, it was an exciting new one that I was more then happy to have.

As a bonus here is the start of World 2… a reverse boss battle.  Enjoy!!!
